About

Julien Lacker

Attorney at law (avocat) admitted to the Paris Bar, partner at GOMIS & LACKER AVOCATS, certified specialist in intellectual property law and in information-technology law.

Practice

Julien has spent more than twenty years filing and litigating trademarks — every week, before the French PTO (INPI), the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and WIPO. His practice covers the full life of a mark: clearance, filing strategy, oppositions and cancellations, infringement litigation before the French courts, and appeals before the EU General Court, where he has argued cases in both English and French.

He holds the two certified specializations granted by the French national bar council (Conseil National des Barreaux) that matter for this work: intellectual property law and information technology, data-processing and communication law. Fewer than a few hundred attorneys in France hold either; holding both is rare.

Why U.S. clients specifically

Before co-founding GOMIS & LACKER, Julien practiced for more than ten years within a U.S. law firm in Paris. That decade shaped how the firm works with American clients today: direct answers, clear recommendations rather than open-ended memos, deadlines flagged early, budgets discussed before the work — the reporting style U.S. in-house teams and law firms expect from local counsel.

He is an active member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and has been a contributor to the INTA Bulletins for France since January 2026. He is also a member of APRAM, the French association of trademark and design practitioners.

Education

  • Université Paris-Saclay — postgraduate degree (DESS) in digital and new-technology law (joint program, Paris I–Paris XI).
  • King's College London — Diploma in Legal Studies (copyright, electronic media).
  • IFOMENE (Institut Catholique de Paris) — university diploma in mediation; a decade of negotiation practice alongside litigation.

Languages

English and French — both used daily, in filings, hearings and client work.

Julien Lacker is not admitted to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction. On matters involving U.S. parties, he acts on questions of French and European Union law, in coordination with the client's U.S. counsel.
